Way back in 2004 on the day of August 31, 2004, this trust , by name, Himadri Memorial Cancer Welfare Trust was formed under the settler ship of Mrs. Tripti Mukherjee for ushering in various welfare programs for the victims and their families concerning the dreadful cancer disease as well as for undertaking constant research & development processes for taming the life threatening cancer disease. It is pertinent here to mention that that the brain behind formation of this cancer welfare trust is a well-known Oncologist Late Dr. AshisMukhopadhyay. Being a noted oncologist, Dr. Mukhopadhyay dreamt of establishing a modern cancer hospital in Kolkata.

Be it mentionable that Dr. AshisMukhopadhyayduring his professional stint at Mumbai-based TATA MEMORIAL CANCER HOSPITAL thought of having returning to his home state West Bengal and initiated a cancer research institute at 16 A, Park Lane in Kolkata after the name of our indomitable freedom fighter NetajiSubhas Chandra Bose. The primary aim of establishing the said institute was to provide quality cancer care at an affordable cost to the scores of marginalized population being battered by cancer disease. Dr. Mukhopadhyay’sconstant efforts and planning of arresting the ever increasing trends of cancer affliction amongst a large section of populace with a focus on marginalized patients finally took shape in a broader spectrum, when under his stewardship, accompanied by a team dedicated to cancer research and development being headed by Dr. Soma Mukhopadhyay, noted molecular biologistand wife of Dr. AshisMukhopadhyay, formed in 2018 , a 150-bedded super-speciality state-of-the art cancer hospital , by name, NetajiSubhas Chandra Bose Cancer Hospital at a sprawling campus in Nayabad, New Garia, Kolkata.
